What the extension stores
The subscriptions and free trials you add (name, amount, billing cycle, dates, category, cancel link and notes), your settings (currency, reminder timing, pay frequency), a record of which reminders have already been shown, and, if you unlock Pro, your license key. All of it is kept in your browser's local extension storage on your device. It isn't synced to any server we run. We don't run one.
What gets sent anywhere
Only one thing, and only if you choose to unlock Pro: your license key. When you press Unlock, the extension sends that key, together with our store's public organization ID and product ID, to Polar's license check at api.polar.sh. It does this again roughly once a month while you use Pro, to confirm the key is still valid. Polar (polar.sh) is the merchant of record that sold you the key. Their handling of that request is covered by Polar's privacy policy.
Your subscription list, amounts, notes and browsing activity are never sent. In Firefox, the extension asks for your permission before sending the key (Firefox shows this as "authentication information").
What we don't do
- No analytics, tracking, telemetry or ads inside the extension.
- No access to the websites you visit, your email, or your bank.
- No selling or sharing of data, because we don't have any of yours to share.
Permissions it asks for
- Storage: to save your list on your device.
- Alarms: to check a few times a day whether a renewal is coming up.
- Notifications: to show you the reminder.
Buying Pro
Checkout happens on Polar's website, not inside the extension. Polar processes your payment and email address under its own privacy policy and sends you the receipt and license key. We see the order details Polar shares with sellers (such as your email and what you bought) so we can help with support and refunds.
Deleting your data
Delete items in the extension, or uninstall it. Uninstalling removes everything it stored. To have us look up or remove a purchase record, email us.
Children
Renewal Radar isn't aimed at children under 13 and doesn't knowingly collect anything from them.
